March 2026 UF IM Resident Shout-Outs

Dr. Sally Franco: Dr. Sally Franco always goes above and beyond for her patients and is one of the residents who advocates for her patients more than anyone I’ve worked with. She is a role model for anyone who is lucky enough to work with her! Dr. Franco is my favorite human being. She’s so so positive, goes beyond for all her patients, and carried the most medically and socially complicated patients on MGI!!! Sally won’t leave anything unturned; she will get to the bottom of chaos and do absolutely everything possible for her patients. Sally is the only reason the MGI room shines bright (its per presence). She always is thoughtful and considerate in not only her decision-making but her patient care. She is also the funniest person I’ve ever met TBH so funny she should go to jail .. or yale.

Matt Martinez: Matt was a great co-intern and physician. He is always trying to learn more about his patients and is very thorough with them—the kind of doctor I want to be cared for. No one is more up to date on the literature than MattDog Martinez. He goes above and beyond in making sure his patients are tucked in. He’s also a selfless dude bringing in gluten-filled treats for his team. Mattdog ain’t a dog he the GOAT. Matt dog!!! What a stud. So knowledgeable and really knows his stuff!! Also brings the most fire pastries to support MGI team morale—lactulose free!!

Miguel Castro: Working nights with Miguel was genuinely a blast. His work was impressive with amazing decision-making and diligence no matter the hour. But honestly, what made the nights was just having him around. He made every shift fun and something to actually look forward to. A great mind and an even better person to be stuck with at 3am.

Lisa Kurian: I’ve never seen someone with as good an attitude as Lisa on nights! The world would be a better place if we were all like her!

Angel Sandoval: Angel is my future cardiologist! Always prepared and keeps the vibes in the workroom fun.

Nastia Tishena: Nastia is a great resident to work with. She handled challenging patients on MGI with professionalism and kindness. Nastia is a great co-intern. I admire how she communicates with clarity and patience. Strong work, Nastia! Nastia is the purple princess butter yellow queen of MGI. Her patients have tested her but she comes back stronger every time and fights back with love and lactulose!!! She is immortal and now she can enjoy her well-deserved vacation!!

Shay Bidani: Shay’s very hardworking, has a positive attitude, and is always eager to learn. His good looks are a plus 🙂

Alexandria Iakovidis: Huge shoutout to Alexandria for being an incredible co-intern! She consistently went to bat for us to make sure admissions were fair, and she pushed hard to make sure we were treated with respect. That kind of advocacy made a real difference!

S Blue: Lauren and Caitlin: Lauren and Caitlin were basically the senior residents on my service. They made my job extremely easy as they poured detail-oriented, patient-centered care into every day and patient interaction they had. Caitlin spouted off cardiology pearls that were beyond my knowledge-level, and I begged Lauren to go into internal medicine instead of PMR given how outstanding her clinical reasoning skills are.

Jon Van Name: Jon was an AMAZING senior in MCT. He was always available to help us and to keep the good vibes in the team. He also taught me a lot about cardiology! It was a pleasure working with him, and the rotation was easier because of him.
Faiz Saulat: Working with Faiz was an absolute pleasure. His vibes were super cool; he is an awesome leader indeed and on top of that, I even got to do a paracentesis with the para king himself. NO CAP!

Judy Dinh: Judy was an outstanding senior, always available to help us and extremely generous (by doing the last-minute admissions so we could go home!). Working with her was great! Judy came back from maternity leave and somehow never missed a beat! She led an excellent MGI team with great care and always set the tone. She is inspirational! Dr. Judy Dinh is such a fantastic senior. She makes it look easy on MGI, is highly knowledgeable on how to manage liver disease and IBD, makes the interns’ lives easy, goes above and beyond what is required to make sure patients are well cared for, and instills confidence in the rest of the team. She will be a great GI fellow in due time! I wish Judy was my mom. Judy has been such a wonderful senior on MGI! She came from maternity leave and absolutely crushed it like it’s some light work. We never went 20 min without Judy asking “how can I help” and help she did! Absolute legend and inspiration #shecandoitall. She also brought some FIRE cookies—not lactulose free.

Ahan Kayastha: Ahan was a rockstar in the CCU. He worked tirelessly every day and always kept that beautiful smile. It was comforting to know patients were under such great care with him. 10/10 would recommend.

Enoch Kuo: Shoutout to Enoch for being an exceptional senior! He created space for us to step up and take on senior-level responsibilities, while always having our backs, pushing for us to leave early when possible and making sure we were taken care of. At the same time, he quietly shouldered a lot of the workload himself, setting a strong example of leadership and teamwork. Truly appreciated working with him!

Mason Lin: Mason was an awesome senior! He always brought great energy to the workroom, was very knowledgeable, and stood up for his interns.
Sophia Fanelli: Sophia was the most incredible senior. She offered so much support, encouragement, and kindness throughout the block! She is really the best.

S Orange: Alec & Tatiana: They did an incredible job on Orange. With 50% of her pts at any given time on 94, Tatiana handled her sick list of patients with stellar professionalism and thoughtful decision-making. In his last rotation before he leaves us for the eyeballs, Alec brought a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn every single day. They made my life easy!

MCT Team (Ahan, Jon, Mason, Enoch, Judy): They did great work on MCT and always kept a good attitude despite the heavy workload. Multiple patients praised each of them for their great care. They all consistently offered to take on extra work to help out the team, and they never complained about the music.
