Madison Starcher: Maddie is a rockstar! Team player, comedian, Irish-Folk DJ, Singer, Vibe Bringer, coolest thing about Mike. Maddie was an absolute joy to work with—she brought great vibes and the puzzles (check out the VA Red Team room). On top of that, she crushed patient care: extra thorough, thoughtful, and her patients genuinely loved her.
Mishma Farsi: Mishma has been on VA green for so long she’s actually my favorite VA green attending. This was my first VA rotation of intern year and I had no idea what was happening with CPRS, so shout out to my queen Mishma for not only taking care of her patients but constantly helping with me with mine and dealing with CPRS. She’s also so lovely and her eyeliner is always on fleek!!
Caitlin McGonegal: Caitlin took excellent care of her patients. In fact, they didn’t want to leave Dr. McGonegal’s care
Miguel Castro: Miguel always brightened the day with some jam music and positive energy!
Alex Antigua: Munchkin Alex is always hard at work! In the MICU is normally a prelim’s worst nightmare– but Alex told me he actually prefers it! woohoo! Alex never. fails to follow through on his work, he updates families left and right, tackles difficult conversations right patients head on, and above all else! Always has a positive attitude and never once complains (which balances out any team with me in it perfectly). Will miss him sm next year but will bully him into keeping in touch and reading my scans for me!
Danah Al-Atari: Danah did an amazing job as intern in Shands nights! Not only was she fun to work with but she responded to SWATs confidently and was extremely thorough. She was very empathic and compassionate when dealing with our sickest patients and their worried family members. She also ran a code like a pro!
Anil Patel: Anil is the chillest intern I’ve ever worked with! He was super flexible all the time and so easy going which made working with him as a team such a dream!
Ricardo Chavez: Ricky was a beast. He took excellent care of very sick patients, handled challenging family situations well, and maintained a calm demeanor throughout. He stayed on top of his work and consistently provided high-quality patient care.
Joey Wilmot: Joey introduced Doctordle, and we made sure to do it everyday!
Alice Hamilton: Alice was very efficient and a star teamplayer on MCT Jan A!
Courtney McGonegel: Munchkin Courtney is the bestest of the best! She knows her patients incredibly well, advocates for them, and always makes sure the team is up to date on what’s going on. This MICU block was a huge step up for us– we drank alani AND water, and we usually ate too! We are slowly working on converting Courtney to the PCCM life one axillary a-line at a time, but I know Cardiology would be so lucky to have her! She is kind, funny, smart, and one of the biggest team players I know.
Shay Bidani: Shout out to Shay for being the best co-intern! Always going above and beyond for his patients and tag-teaming admissions. 10/10 would date
Alexandria Iakovidis: Alexandria for being the absolute BEST co-intern ever! She was incredibly passionate about her patients, super efficient on rounds, and was always looking out for me to make sure I was doing ok. She’s always ready to jump into action and have a teammate’s back. She was fantastic with the medical students and was a true advocate for their learning and well-being. Shands
Gold Shay Bidani Alexandria Iakovidis was 100x better with Alexandria on the team with us!
Judy Dinh: Judy- my queen, my inspiration, my favorite VA bridge!!! Judy was always there’s to the rescue whenever we needed her the most
Lauren Taylor: Lauren is such a wonderful co-intern to work with. Her clinical acumen is spot-on. Even more importantly she cares deeply about all of her patients. I would trust her with my family every day of the week. MICU is complex and challenging, and she is a phenomenal team player that made the rotation so comfortable.
Miles Cameron: Miles is an exceptional co-intern and teammate. He was consistently supportive and always willing to serve as a sounding board for treatment ideas. He took time out of his day to teach medical students and observers, which made their overall experience more positive in the critical care setting. His level attitude and enthusiasm made working in the MICU both productive and genuinely fun!
Lindsey Creech: Lindsey was a phenomenal senior on MICU. Excellent leadership and learning environment. She knows every single detail about our patients and thinks about them constantly. She is always three steps ahead and able to see what may happen to these very sick patients. Great working with her and Dr Lascano on MICU silver. She also has such good plans for our program in general.
Cyrus Khalily: Shout to Cyrus for being a wonderful role model, teaching EKGs, and showing up to the SWATs that hospitalist didn’t
Austin Natalie: Austin is a beast. An incredible co-resident and an absolute joy to work with. He’s consistently helpful and brings positive energy to every shift, all while being a true clinical rockstar. On a busy clinic afternoon he took one of my patients lighten my workload without asking. He is always eager to cover for others when needed. Beyond his skills and work ethic, he’s simply a genuinely good person to be around and always hypes people up. Austin did an amazing job on a very busy CCU night rotation. He took excellent care of patients and despite the heavy workload and extended rotation, he maintained his wonderful, positive attitude which helped make everyone’s day better. Great work! Go Hoosiers!
Lyle Miller: Lyle was an outstanding senior resident to work with—kind, welcoming, and incredibly supportive. He created a comfortable learning environment, was always approachable, and gave thoughtful, constructive feedback. He and his wife went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even inviting us into their home, which speaks volumes about his character. He was truly a pleasure to work with.
