My role this year as Chief Resident for the inpatient services at UF Health/Shands will focus on coordinating our inpatient teaching services (General Wards, ICU/CCU, Cardiology, GI, Heme/Onc), leading resident reports, providing lectures, and organizing noon conferences. This year we will be expanding our teaching services as well as the ICU service and preparing for our transition to the new tower in December 2018. I will continue to work hard, along with my Co-Chiefs, on high-yield and quality education through our daily morning reports and noon conferences which are highly regarded by our residents. We are fortunate to have a Chairman of Medicine, Dr. Hromas, and Program Director, Dr. Edwards, who support our educational mission every day and are very receptive to resident opinions and feedback. We meet at least monthly to discuss all of our residents’ concerns with our PD and Chair, and both Dr. Hromas and Dr. Edwards round on our inpatient services to better understand the needs of our program.
I have had an excellent experience here at UF and I am excited to continue on as Chief Resident. The UF Internal Medicine Residency program continues its strong reputation for education along with excellence in clinical medicine and research. We hope to continue to attract strong candidates who share our mission. I encourage you to come to see our program and what Gainesville has to offer.
