I am the Chief Resident in Quality and Patient Safety for the residency program at the University of Florida. This position is a VA initiative designed to integrate quality and patient safety into resident programs around the country. The University of Florida Internal Medicine Residency is one of about 40 residency programs in the country participating in this initiative. This has brought about an exciting culture change at UF Health and the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center. The quality improvement and patient safety curriculum provides our residents mentorship, education, and the ability to develop their own quality improvement projects. I encourage you to come visit our program and ask about the quality improvement initiatives and educational opportunities.
